Just Let Me Make It To Friday

2 Feb

In seven days, my parents, boyfriend and I (and my brother hopefully also!) will be touching down in beautiful, sunny and (most importantly) hot St. Thomas in the USVI.  I could not be MORE READY or PREPARED for some much needed time away from vacuums, cleaning solution, school work, or pots and pans.  Alex has been hard at work too and the sun is calling our names… oh, and the Pina Coladas too.

I can’t WAIT to get out my camera and do some fantastic shooting!  The people, sights and sounds of the island are truly magical.  It’s going to be great to come back with a full roll of film, and hopefully a slight tan too.

A few more additions to St. Malo…

18 Nov

I just can’t stop myself.  I had such an incredible time in St. Malo, and I took SO many pictures, that I feel compelled to share them all!

Barbie loves the St. Malo open markets too..

Barbie, mannequins and more shopping – oh my!  I would return here in a mili-second… if I didn’t have a live here, in Boston!

In front of Blanc du Nil. This place was SO busy, everyday!

The bottom two pics, are at the restaurant Lion d’Or.  We ate here more often than not.  It might have been the cute waiters, or maybe it was the fact that they had outdoor seating and a live band.. or most likely it was because the menu was in French AND in English.  Merci, Lion d’Or!!

Pirate Fortress: St. Malo, France

18 Nov

This past August, I had the most incredible opportunity to visit Europe with my Grandfather and Mother.  One of our many stops included St. Malo, a pirate fortress still intact to this very day.. located on the coast of France.  It’s a truly magical place, with fantastic cafes and restaurants, gorgeous boutiques littered throughout the cobblestone streets and street performers and artists showing their worldly goods.

Jack the Pirate: O.G. Bad Ass

Anyone recognize this? Parts of the movie "Ronin," was shot here!

Days full of sunbathing, shopping, people-watching and coffee (or wine!) drinking was nothing short of amazing.  I could have moved there in an instant.  It’s too bad when silly things like work and school hold you back!

Sunset in St. Malo - gorgeous!

Coffee Count: 5 Time: 11:00 AM.. Woohoo!

I beg your pardon?! Actually, this means "Enter.." 😉

I managed to snag some amazing finds from the shoppes in St. Malo.  Le Blanc du Nil, was light and airy – just like their egyptian cotton dresses, skirts and tops.  Love, love!  My truly favorite store was a hidden jewel – literally.  I can’t for the life of me remember what the name of the boutique was, but once it comes back to me – I will definitely let you know!  Truly unique – edgy, flirty, ethereal women’s clothing.  It’s not often that clothes “speak to me,” but, these did.  😉  I want to go back!

I'm on a BOAAAT! Well, next to a Pirate Ship at least!

Perfect Gardens and even better sunshine!

Horseburger Delux: delicious actually

Hi, Mama. You are lovely!

Oh my good God... the seafood was INCREDIBLE

Okay, let’s talk food for a second here.  I ate a Horseburger.  Yes, a burger made from horsemeat.  Apparently, that’s very commonplace in France – and honestly, it was delicious!  When your diet consists of “moules avec frites,” for most of your trip, you’re willing to try almost anything to get a bit of variety.  I love seafood but I can only eat so many mussels!   Oh, and the coffee… is… heavenly!  It’s so strong, your spoon practically stands at full attention.  But, that’s okay.. because you need full strength if your going to spend some serious dough with this Blondie.  After spending five total days in St. Malo, I was ready to head on.  I love it here, it’s absolutely breathtaking and it’s a perfect place to relax; however, it’s small.  You can only wander the cobbles for so long before you’re ready to head out to sea.  St. Malo is removed from other cities, so if you’re without a car, you become a bit.. deserted.  Anyways, our next stop was Bayeux: home to the famous Tapestry.  My next post will bring us to Normandy.. with guns blazing and crazy tour guides, quaint Inns and (not) so exciting food!

xoxo,

Blondie

WalMart can cure ALL

17 Nov

I give thanks to my computer for the ability to spell check, turn on and off efficiently, get me to Facebook quickly.. and, well.. that’s about it.  Blogging is definitely not as easy as I thought it was going to be!  Well, I shouldn’t say the writing part isn’t fun.. It is.  It’s the whole web-design aspect.  I feel like pulling my hair out from time to time!  For example, I can’t for the life of me, figure out how to get my posts into seperate categories.  One post tends to go into EVERY category.  That can’t be right..  I guess this is going to take some patience, and some getting used to.

are you serious?

So, yesterday I ventured to Walmart.. in Quincy, MA.  If you are from Massachusetts, you know what this means.  Freaks.  Lots of freaks… also lots of overalls, missing teeth and wicked think Baahstan accents.  Yippee!  I made my trek out there for one reason only:  to get CHEAP insulin!  Yesss!  Thank you, Walmart Brand medications!  So, after my adventure which took me ALL afternoon (I left Boston at 1:00 PM, and didn’t get to Quincy, which is supposedly 20 minutes away, until 2:30 PM!) There was a major accident on the highways, so I couldn’t complain that much.  I made it to WalMart, and as I’m looking around, I’m realizing that I’m the only normally dressed, showered and clean person in the place.  It was a bit unreal, I felt like I had entered The Twilight Zone.  Don’t get me wrong, I love WalMart.  Everything is very cheap, accessible and the lines move with lightning speed.  I picked up Hard Candy nailpolish for $6!  It’s usually $14 at the department stores or at Sephora.. so, I was happy.

On my drive home, I was contemplating: “Is it like this at ALL WalMarts?”  The answer: YES.  If you go to the website http://www.peopleofwalmart.com you can see for yourself.  Images of the real clientele of our nation’s WalMarts will greet you in the slideshow.  There’s also the daily Feature Creature when the page first loads (see Flavor Flave above!)

Here are some other pictures to feast your eyes on!

It’s the “Who Wore It Better: Battle of the Pink Drag Queens.” WalMart Edition..

This was taken at a Texas WalMart, and let’s just be glad that her thong is high enough to hide her tramp-stamp lower back tattoo!

That b*tch stole my outfit!!  No, kidding obviously.  But seriously, you know you’ve forgotten most of your outfit if your BOOTS cover the most skin!

Ohhhh people of WalMart, thank you.  You make me feel better and better about fashion and my outfit choices on a daily basis.  For this, I commend you!

Check out http://www.peopleofwalmart.com for a great laugh.
